Philip Jones Griffiths is one of the main photographers to work closely with Gigi since their first book together Agent Orange - Collateral Damage in Vietnam’ in 2003. President of the agency Magnum for a records five years, Philip described meeting Gigi as ‘the closest he’d even come to a religious conversion’, since no other publisher was interested in publishing one let alone a whole book of his images of the effects of Agent Orange since the war. ‘Viet nam at Peace’ followed in 2005, a look at the people and the country in the 25 years since the war ended, and in 2008 ‘Recollections’ from where this photo is the front cover. Recollections presented Philip’s images of Britain in the 50s-70s, including Wales where this was taken. As well as a book, which he worked on with Gigi right up until he passed away before the book’s publication in 2008, there is an exhibition which has so far toured Liverpool, Wales, Paris and Italy. This print is donated by his Foundation, which is run by his two daughters Fanny and Katherine.
