Tracey Emin was born in 1963 in Croydon and studied at the Royal College of Art, where she received an MA in painting. Emin has exhibited extensively, with her first major retrospective ‘20 Years’ held in Edinburgh in 2008, touring Europe until 2009 and her largest major solo exhibtion in a public space held at Hayward Gallery in 2011, titled ‘Love Is What You Want’. Emin was nominated for the Turner Prize in 1999 and was made a Royal Academician by the Royal Academy of Arts in 2007. She represented Great Britain at the Venice Biennale in 2009. In 2005 she curated a group show of her assistants at Trolley Gallery entitled ‘Group Show, Group Sex.’ She lives and works in London.
