Marco Lanza is an Italian photographer who published 'The Living Dead: Inside the Palermo Crypt' with Gigi in 2001, under the Westzone imprint. The book, of which this image is the iconic front cover, showed his photographs from inside the Palermo Crypt where the Cappuccini monks devised a method of mummification that was so successful that, up to five hundred years later, the bodies of their dead are still astonishingly well preserved.
